Four killed in road accident
Four persons, including two Nepalis, died and two others were injured on Chennai-Kolkata National Highway at Kunchanapalli in Tadepalli mandal of Guntur district on Friday.
According to the Tadepalli police, an autorickshaw was proceeding to Vijayawada from Guntur with eight passengers at 1.45 am on Friday.
A The driver lost control over the speeding autorickshaw and itoverturned on the NH16 at Kunchanapalli.
The passerby gave information to the police and a police Rakshak jeep came to the spot. The police parked their jeep on the side of the NH-16 and was rescuing the passengers from the over rturned autorickshaw.
But, a speeding lorry proceeding towards Vijayawada dashed the police jeep and the autorickshaw. Nepalis settled at Guntur by selling woolen clothes, Ram Bahadur. 40, and Bahadur Thapa, 45, who were going to Vijayawada to go to Nepal, died on the spot due to heavy head and body injuries.
The two other persons travelling in the autorickshaw, Arun Kumar, 24, and Rajasekhar, 23, of Guntur city, were shifted to Vijayawada government hospital for treatment, but died while undergoing treatment.
Police head constable Sk Saida and auto driver Yedukondalu were injured in the accident and shifted to a private hospital for treatment. The lorry which caused the accident managed to escape from the spot. The Tadepallipolice registered a case and started search to nab the lorry.
